Patio Record Presents

Music Fest 2000

Saturday, May 6th

The Fourth Annual Celebration of Music will be held at the J.F.K. Middle School Auditorium, Lexington St., Waltham, MA, USA. Proceeds from the concert and sales of the Family, Friends, and Neighbors compilation will be donated to the Mary Eagan Memorial Fund at the Deaconess-Waltham Hospital towards completion of a Patio/Garden area for the comfort and solace of patients afflicted with cancer who are undergoing treatments. Exceptional musicians from Canada and the U.S. will bring their outstanding individual skills together in as stirring a night of entertainment as can be imagined. Their talents are only matched by their sense of community-mindedness.

Featuring (In alphabetical order)

Rick Fines

Peterborough, Ontario, Canada's my-kinda songwriter and guitar player par excellence. Rick will also serve as onstage music host (for the fourth year of four)! Check out Rick earlier in the week as he fires up his electric guitars as only he knows how at an area club venue.

Cindy Kallet, Ellen Epstein, & Michael Cicone

Cindy, Ellen, and Michael have had the pleasure of performing together in concerts, coffeehouses, and festivals throughout New England since 1981. Their close harmonies have inspired enthusiastic responses from audiences and critics alike. The trio sings both a cappella and accompanied by guitar and hammered dulcimer, drawing material from contemporary and traditional music of the British Isles and North America, with a liberal sprinkling of sea music. Cindy is of the finest songwriters anywhere.

Matt Leavenworth

You've heard Matt's fiddle and guitar on albums from John Lincoln Wright, Maria Sangiolo, Mary Gauthier, and many others. Matt is a double-digit year'ed Sourmash fiddler, and has taken time out from his many efforts to perform at each of the past three year's spring concerts. This year Matt steps right up to the microphone as a featured headliner in addition to performing his virtuoso accompaniment.

Stacey and Tim Lefort

Making their first MusicFest appearance, this sister and brother team will combine Stacey's powerful singing with Tim's accomplished-at-a-young-aged guitar and harmony vocals. The youthful duo will perform songs written by Canadians Eileen McGann and Beth Ferguson*. Be there to discover these promising area talents.

Ian Tamblyn

Ian has been a musician, songwriter, playwright, and producer for many years. With eighteen albums and countless soundtracks for theater and film to his name, Ian received the prestigious Helen Verger Award in 1997 for his contributions to Canadian folk music. His most recent release "The Body Needs To Travel" was inspired by extensive world travels, including visits to the Arctic, the Antarctic, Russia and Japan, and has been well received by critics.

Cindy Thompson

Cindy's electrifying performances have earned her a reputation as Ontario's premiere combination fiddle player/stepdancer. She has appeared on some of Canada's finest programs including the Rita MacNeil Show, CBC Radio and concert appearances with Symphony Nova Scotia and the Thunder Bay Symphony. Her blend of traditional music styles combines Canadian Old Tyme, French Canadian, Scottish, Irish, Bluegrass, Cajun and Country in an unforgettable performance.
