1999 Eastern Massachusetts Spring Tour

April 26th - May 2nd

If you find yourself in the Eastern Massachusetts (US) area as April springs into May, be sure to treat yourself to one or more performances of the many gifted Canadian musicians who are coming together in the first tour of "The Maple League". There'll be many opportunities to hear some favorite people who are also great songwriters, singers, and instrumentalists. On Saturday, May 1st, "The Maple League" will team up with some of this region's finest musicians in The Great City of Waltham, MA. for Music Fest '99 , a splendid concert to benefit the Mary Eagan Memorial Fund . (The fund is for the creation of a Patio and Garden area for Cancer Patients at the Deaconess-Waltham Hospital). The 1999 "Maple Leaguers" include: Bill Bourne, Beth Ferguson, Rick Fines, Ian Tamblyn, Suzie Vinnick, and Chris White.

Cantab Lounge, Cambridge MA Bill Bourne and Rick Fines kick off the week with a one-hour special at Geoff Bartley's weekly singer-songwriter open mike. Have a pint with your mesquite chicken, ribs, fries, or rings at Central Square's neighborhood staple. Bill will have winded his way in from Edmonton, Alberta, and Rick via Peterborough, Ontario. Bill' Sally's Dream was catching enough to the ear to earn a Juno nomination, and Rick was recently named the MapleBlues "Acoustic Act of the Year" for 1998.

WATD Something Different 95.9 FM, Marshfield, MA. Bill and Rick drop in for an on-air guest appearance with Joan Orr, a stalwart folk and acoustic DJ's in this area for over 20 years. When not interviewing top-shelf touring musicians, Joan can be heard playing a good share of Ferron, Bruce Cockburn, and The Wyrd Sisters right in there with Dar Williams, Annie Gallup, and Catie Curtis. WUMB 91.9 FM , Boston/Worcester/Falmouth. Bill Bourne plays on-air during his interview with Marilyn Rae Beyer, Music Director at the only station we know of that plays an average of over 15 hours a day of folk music throughout the week.

Francis Cabot Lowell Mill, Waltham. "The Maple League" enjoin at the wonderful location alongside the river Charles to perform in the round for the residents of the community Senior Citizens Housing Complex. The historic Mill once housed the first plant in the world that performed all the processes from taking cotton from the ball to labeling finished clothing. Bill Bourne, Beth Ferguson, Rick Fines, Suzie Vinnick, and Chris White have all performed individually as a rewarding public service during prior visits to Waltham, MA. Each has had a wonderfully-warm time performing individually, and will surely have a wide collective smile as they come together in good cheer and fine music. Weds. Apr 28 8:30 PM -- 12:00 AM Sit 'N Bull Pub, Maynard, MA. Ted Epstein, the proprieter and do-everything man, is a great guy with a keen ear for good music. Have some ribs, a pint or two, and a night of heartwarming music. Suzie Vinnick flies in to join Bill and Rick as they play individually and collectively with their good friend from this area, John Fitzsimmons. John is a regular musical host to our visiting musicians, and a great guy. The mood is always festive at the Sit 'N Bull.

Thurs. Apr 29 8:30 PM -- 12:00 AM Sweetwaters Grille, Hyannis, MA . Walk along the Cape Cod seashore during the day, and feast on some great seafood and music from the North. Sweetwaters Grille, of the finest of restaurants, kicks off it's music series with solo performances by Bill, Beth, Rick, Ian, and Suzie, with all musically mixing together through the night.

MusicFest '99, Robinson Auditorium, WHS, Waltham, MA. Unless you're at a wedding, graduation, or the like, treat yourselves to what will be an incredibly-enriching night of music and good spirit. "The Maple League"" will gather in great kinship with Lori McKenna, Kerri Powers, and a very talented and personable Ensemble of Greater Waltham area musicians. All proceeds go directly to the Mary Eagan Memorial Fund. The concert will be awesome.

Sun. May 2nd 7:30 PM Club Passim, Cambridge, MA. Bill Bourne performs at Passim's Songwriter's Circle Series. No tour of this region could be complete for Bill without playing for his longtime friend and Club Passim booking manager Tim Mason. Tim's hospitality at The Old Vienna Kaffeehaus (sp?) set the tone for Bill to look forward to coming back. Thanks Tim !
